P+HS Architects has been named as lead consultant for the major rebuild of Airedale General Hospital, supported by AHR and Hospital 2.0 specialists HDR.
The Keighley hospital in West Yorkshire is one of the first projects to move forward under Wave 1 of the Government’s £20bn New Hospital Programme.
Construction is expected to start in 2027 to 2028, once design work and approvals are completed.
The new facility will replace the existing crumbling RAAC-framed building with a next-generation hospital focused on sustainability, modern construction methods and digital healthcare.
Engineering firms Curtins and AECOM are onboard to handle structural and MEP design, with Gleeds acting as project manager and Archus providing additional healthcare expertise.
Alastair Stewart, programme director at Airedale, said: “The team will support us to deliver the Hospital 2.0 model in a way that best meets the needs of the population we serve.”
The Hospital 2.0 model aims to cut design time and boost efficiency using standardised layouts and digital planning tools.
AECOM is leading on energy-efficient building services, while Curtins will handle structures and highways work.
